The Beholder  – Anna Bright

This fantasy debut from Anna Bright is described as “Cinderella meets The Odyssey” and listed as “perfect for fans of The Selection or Caraval.”

Basically: Sign me up right the heck now.

The Beholder follows a young woman named Selah who, thanks to some unfortunate circumstances, must sail across the Atlantic in search of a suitor to marry. Is this a fairytale The Bachelorette? Maybe. I’m here for it, either way.

According to early reviews, The Beholder is fully of references to legends, myths, and fairytales, and features a heroine who grows into her own voice along the way.

The Beholder will be released on June 4.

Sorcery of Thorns – Margaret Rogerson

The second novel from Margaret Rogerson, author of An Enchantment of Ravens, will likely include many of the same elements – a complex heroine, a lush setting, and charming secondary characters. (Spoiler alert: I loved An Enchantment of Ravens and cannot wait for this book!)

Sorcery of Thorns tells the story of Elisabeth, an apprentice at a magical library who must battle a powerful sorcerer to save her kingdom.

Basically, this description ticks all my boxes for great YA – a great heroine, a broody love interest, conspiracies, and a romance that is appears as though it will be an enemies-to-lovers twist. My body is ready, as the kids say.

(Also: Just look at that incredible cover!)

Sorcery of Thorns will be released on June 4.
