Sebastian Stan suggests a new look might be in store for the Winter Soldier

With the Disney+ series on the horizon, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sebastian Stan is teasing the Winter Soldier might be getting a new look.

With Avengers: Endgame officially over and done with, it seems that Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes will be leading the MCU into the future with their upcoming Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Not many details have been revealed about the series yet, but it was announced last week that director Kari Skogland would be taking it on.

Although, now we’ve got a bit more information about what to come thank to the Winter Soldier himself, actor Sebastian Stan. At MCM London Comic Con this weekend, Stan dropped this brief detail during a Q&A: “Maybe he has a haircut,” Stan joked. “I don’t know. I don’t know anything. I don’t know yet. We’ll see.”

For the majority of Bucky’s tenure in the MCU, he’s sported a longer, shaggier hairstyle that suits his character’s more roguish nature in the earlier films, like Captain America: The Winter Soldier. But Bucky’s character has become less and less morally grey over the past few films he’s appeared in, and a new hairstyle could highlight that shift in characterization.

After all, Bucky hasn’t had shorter hair since he was a World War II soldier in the very first Captain America film. But, as CBR points out, Bucky is well on his way to becoming a full-blown hero again. Given that, perhaps it is time he returned to a more traditional look, one that resembles the more clean-cut one Captain America himself often sported.

This change in style also raises another question: Will Bucky’s new haircut be part of a bigger costume upgrade for the Winter Soldier? With so many new things in store for the MCU, it certainly seems possible.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is expected to begin streaming sometime next year.
