The Twilight Zone season 1 episode 9 live stream: Watch online

The next stop on The Twilight Zone is an episode seemingly about gun violence and the ongoing discourse on gun laws in the United States.

We’re nine episodes into The Twilight Zone, and decrypting the teasers and often vague or altogether non-existent synopses each week is becoming a fulltime hobby. With sci-fi, horror, and socio-political commentary still at the heart of every episode, this week could give us an episode centered around a prevalent and polarizing topic. Thanks to the imagery and tone in this week’s trailer, episode 9, “The Blue Scorpion” appears to center on gun laws in the US, for some evergreen discussions.

Last week’s interpretation of modern detention camps wasn’t particularly implemented well; however, we’re hopeful this week’s Twilight Zone episode will successfully tackle the severity of gun law reformation. Sure, we’re not even certain this week’s episode will delve into gun laws, mass shootings, or any tragically related news. But with the blue scorpion gun and body bags as the focal points of the trailer, it’s hard to ignore this kind of violence with have a heavy role in the coming episode.

From the trailer, we know the main focus will likely infuse some aspect of gun violence and mental health. Especially given Jeff’s recent loss, episode nine will toy with his grief following his father’s death. Courtesy of some dialogue, we have a decent idea of the supernatural affiliation this week (or at least the placebo-supernatural instigator). It’s the soul in the object. In this case, the alleged soul inside the blue scorpion gun. Considering the personal influence this week, we already have an idea of whose soul might be in the weapon.

According to the CBS All Access synopsis for the episode, things get personal for the main character:

"The emergence of the elusive Blue Scorpion leads anthropology professor Jeff Storck (Chris O’Dowd) to his most personal research project yet."

Unlike the past few Twilight Zone episodes, which have opted out of the pre-release synopsis, this week gives us a synopsis. However, it’s ambiguous content doesn’t give us any help for decoding this week’s commentary.

Nonetheless, we have a hunch that Jeff’s dad’s soul is encapsulated inside the blue scorpion gun. Or, at the very least, Jeff thinks his dad’s soul is in the gun. Beyond that, we’re still in ambiguous fan-theorying limbo.
