Now that Game of Thrones has ended, many of us want to know where our favorite assassin, Arya Stark, is headed. Will we ever see her again?
Arya Stark is by far my favorite character on Game of Thrones. She’s lethal, she gets what she wants, and she’s absolutely fearless. At the end of the HBO epic, we saw her sailing away to find what was beyond Westeros. She looks empowered, excited, and honestly I want to see more of Arya.
Unfortunately, according to programming president Casey Bloys, we won’t see anything new for the existing characters without showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. Bloys talked with The Hollywood Reporter, and was pretty honest with everyone;
"I don’t want to take characters from this world that they did beautifully and put them off into another world with someone else creating it. I want to let it be the artistic piece they’ve got. That’s one of the reasons why I’m not trying to do the same show over. George has a massive, massive world; there are so many ways in. That’s why we’re trying to do things that feel distinct — and to not try and redo the same show. That’s probably one of the reasons why, right now, a sequel or picking up any of the other characters doesn’t make sense for us."
Personally I am inclined to agree. While I would love to see Arya explore bold new worlds, I also want to see how we got to the point where Game of Thrones began. But we still have a lot of questions that fans want answered. Plus, judging by the multitude of social media reactions, a sequel would do just as well as a prequel.
Time will tell us if we see Arya on the small screen again. Reboots, sequels, and new seasons coming out years later are more commonplace now, so you never really know.
