What you may have missed from the Westworld season 3 trailer
Last night HBO premiered the new trailer for Westworld season 3, due out in 2020. While we don’t know much beyond the trailer, we still got a glimpse of what’s to come.
The new trailer for Westworld season 3 dropped last night, giving fans a sneak peek as to what’s in store for the season. The trailer opens with newcomer Aaron Paul, who from my guess is a construction worker who happens to moonlight as a rebel, trying to undo whatever has been done in a futuristic setting. Is this the same place we saw in flashbacks in season 2?
New characters?
Accompanying Paul in this new trailer are Lena Waithe, Marshawn Lynch (who’s sporting a shirt that tells us how he’s feeling), and Scott Mescudi. We don’t get a glimpse of the new villain, played by Vincent Cassel.
A beautiful world full of technology, but with an ugly core
Paul narrates through the trailer, saying that while the world may look nice on the outside, it’s rotting away on the inside. With Pink Floyd’s “Brain Damage” playing alongside, we get the idea that something is wrong.
Life beyond the park is not beautiful, despite all of the technology living alongside humans — such as the robot with Paul at the beginning, the self driving motorcycle, and so on. We see glimpses of beauty among the chaos (such as the “Life is Good” sign before a wall blows up), possible drug use to escape the current state of the world, cold blooded murder, and then the piece de resistance; Paul lamenting about wanting to find something — or someone — real, before finding a wounded Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) in an alley.
The new season isn’t set to air until 2020 (date unannounced), so it’s really anyone’s guess as to what could potentially happen this season. Will Paul’s character fall in love with Dolores? Will they take down the world around them by staying on the fringe of society?
