6. King Orm/The Ocean Master

We completely understand King Orm’s motivations. He is trying to save his people and the ocean from the devastation being wrought by the “surface dwellers.” Pollution is destroying his home and he wants to rise up and stop the destruction. It almost seems noble.

The problem with all of this is the fact that Orm will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. And it is not just about his kingdom. He wants absolute power, which would mean becoming the Ocean Master. The Ocean Master is the one person who rules all of the underwater kingdoms. It is a show of pure power hunger.

King Orm had no problem killing a fellow king in an effort to become Ocean Master. And that’s not all. He destroyed a sacred temple area in an effort to prove his point and get what he wanted.

It certainly doesn’t help his case that he was willing to kill his own brother in an effort to get what he wanted. And while his intentions may have started off noble, with the idea of ending the pollution that was destroying the oceans, his delivery and subsequent power grabs make it clear that he has no problem with doing whatever it takes to get what he wants.

King Orm is just shy of being truly sinister, and that probably stems from the fact that his initial motives make sense. Unfortunately, once he went off the rails, things changed and he became less of a misguided king and more of a true villain.
