Ranking 16 of the best BTS music videos
15. “N.O”
“N.O” is another one of BTS’ older music videos, and that’s part of the reason it places so low in the rankings. It’s still a bit simpler than some of their most recent videos, but it’s a big improvement on “No More Dream.”
The video starts with the boys sitting in what looks like a dystopian classroom. They all have the same haircuts and the same uniforms and are taking orders from their teacher while guards in full riot gear stand at the front of the classroom. The group starts getting mad, and they slowly start resisting the controlling powers of the teacher. You can’t control BTS. They’re rebels!
It doesn’t take long before the boys start fighting back. The teacher looks terrified as the boys start to rise from their chairs and charge towards the guards. They start throwing books and chairs, jumping off desks, and throwing punches just as the walls burst and the boys waltz right out, free at last.
While this is all happening, the classroom scenes are intercut with shots of the band in a white room, all white outfits, and gold chains to slay some choreography. Would it even be a BTS video — or any K-pop video — without a good dance break? The boys really break it down towards the end of the video, launching into the air, doing spin-kicks, and overall just being badasses.
“N.O” appears on BTS’ EP O!RUL8,2?, so obviously they’ve come a long way since, but even back then, they were already starting to develop a music video style. This clip had more of a storyline and more drama, instead of just being the group looking great and dancing — though let’s be honest, who would complain about that?
