Met Gala 2019: 16 of the campiest looks of the night

We barely recognized Lupita in this beautiful burst of color, but once you look closely you’ll spot the Black Panther actress under all of that fabulous makeup.

Nyong’o worked a look not many could pull off — donning a Versace dress and topping it off with a ruffled rainbow ombre of pink, green and turquoise. She topped everything off with a fierce afro that featured five Afro picks. Now while the fashion may have made your jaw drop, the makeup Lupita wore easily is making all of our eyes glisten.

Nyong’o’s makeup artist, Nick Barose, told Allure that the actress’ dazzling face was inspired by drag queen Divine. Now, given the fact that many on social media have noted drag queens essentially own campy looks, this was a fitting tribute by Nyong’o.
