The Russo Brothers address those Kate Bishop rumors
We all hoped for a Kate Bishop tease in Avengers: Endgame after the final trailer came out. So is there hope? The Russo Brothers addressed it all
When the second trailer for Avengers: Endgame came out and showed us a glimpse of Hawkeye training a young archer, we all held our breath.
And hoped. And maybe prayed a little and overreacted.
Because we all wanted it to be Kate Bishop.
In the Marvel comics, Kate Bishop is the protégé of Hawkeye (after he’s brought back to life) and takes up the mantle of Hawkeye. She and Clint have an awesome friendship, and it’s a really great comic series written by Matt Fraction. She’s also initially introduced in Young Avengers.

When we sat down to watch Avengers: Endgame, we saw this exact scene play out in the first seven minutes of the film. And the girl’s name is definitely Lila and not Kate Bishop.
Unfortunately, the Russo Brothers all but confirmed that it’s not any iteration of Kate Bishop. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, they were glad us fans jumped to conclusions, wanting our brains to do that anyway:
"“And it doesn’t mean that there’ll never be a Kate Bishop story,” Joe said, noting the Disney+ series. He said they knew comic book fans would draw this connection. “There’s a reason that we wanted that iconography in this movie.”"
It’s always fun to theorize the possibilities. But sometimes it’s fun to think back to Iron Man, when things like this were just that simple. When they were just fun easter eggs for knowing comic book fans and not necessarily plotting out the future of the MCU.
Then again, we do have a Disney+ series with Kate Bishop coming. It all made too much sense! We’ll just have to wait and see what comes of the Disney+ series.
