Did the Avengers: Endgame trailer just reveal a future superhero?

The latest trailer for Avengers: Endgame still keeps everything a mystery, but it may have just shown us a new superhero for the MCU.

Marvel decided to drop an Avengers: Endgame trailer out of the blue this morning. Naturally, we all spent most of the morning bawling our eyes out and poring over every single shot.

One in particular sticks out: Who the heck is that mystery girl with Hawkeye?

The easiest answer is that it’s his daughter. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen his kids in Avengers: Age of Ultron, so of course she’s older now. But the fact that he’s showing her how to use a bow and arrow leads us to believe that Endgame may be introducing a new character for the future MCU: Kate Bishop.

Who the heck is Kate Bishop, you ask, and why would Hawkeye’s daughter have a different last name than him?

I’m so glad you asked! Kate Bishop was introduced in Young Avengers in 2005 and took up the mantle of Hawkeye for a period of time. There are also a few different series where there are some excellent verbal sparring matches with Clint Barton. They also have a mentor/mentee relationship (albeit a bit begrudgingly at times). Also she gets some cool trick arrows from Black Panther.

Thus, Marvel’s really making it look like this is their iteration of Kate Bishop.

Now, it’s also very possible that this isn’t Hawkeye’s daughter. In the MCU timeline, she might not be as old as the girl in this trailer. With how angry and vengeful he’s has looked in trailers so far (as his Ronin alias), we have a hinting suspicion that Clint lost his family in that Thanos snap last year.

It’s possible that in his time wandering around as Ronin doing whatever, he ran across someone who gave him some trouble. Someone he could look upon as a daughter-figure and turn into a new protégé. Since we’re still over a month away from Avengers: Endgame’s release, all we can do is speculate.

Marvel has always taken some liberties with the comic book source material. They may meld Kate Bishop’s comic counterpart with Clint’s daughter to give us a little bit more of an emotional tie to the new character.
