Oprah Winfrey offers her praise for Meghan Markle’s family choices

Oprah Winfrey is known for many things, but it is her ability to be a true friend that makes her shine. And when it comes to Meghan Markle, she is all about praising her friend.

When it comes to Hollywood friendships, there are a lot of iconic duos out there. But perhaps the most interesting is that of Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. Over the years, Winfrey and the Duchess, along with her husband, Prince Harry, have developed a unique friendship.

Not only was Winfrey invited to the royal wedding, but the couple is also working alongside the media mogul to create a new series for Apple TV+ that focuses on important issues such as mental health and even climate change. So, it likely comes as no surprise that if you ask her about the duchess, she has nothing but good things to say.

According to Entertainment Tonight, while there are plenty of people out there criticizing Meghan Markle, Winfrey is definitely not one of them. Instead, she was quick to praise the duchess and pointing out how proud she is of the other woman for her decisions, especially when it comes to her baby and the family she is creating with Prince Harry.

"Oh my God! I’m so proud of her decisions. To be able to stand up and say this is what I really want for my baby and my family and now I’m going to do it a different way when it’s been done that way for a thousand years? I’m just so proud of her."

Over the years, the beloved TV personality has proven that she is a strong supporter of women, so it makes sense that she would praise the way that the duchess is making a stand about how she wants to raise her family and what she wants to do with her life. After all, while she may have married into the royal family, that doesn’t mean that she is not her own person.

"Who is ready to walk out and stand before the world and put that face on, you know, a day after you’ve had a baby? So I think for her and him — I’m sure it was a mutual decision for the two of them — I think it’s a great thing. And truthfully, it ain’t nobody else’s business! That’s really the truth."

And when it comes to acts of friendship, praise is not the only thing that Winfrey is offering up. As the Huffington Post explained, once Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcome their child into the world, the baby will receive one of the most impressive gifts anyone could receive.

It seems that when people she really cares about have a child, she gifts them what she calls, “a standard gift.” But, there is nothing standard about it. Mindy Kaling was the last recipient of the gift and described it in impressive detail. It turns out that Winfrey gifts “a hand-carved bookcase, prettier than any professional dollhouse you had ever seen that contained a hundred of the classic essential books in children’s literature.”

If the Duchess of Sussex receives the exact same gift as Kaling did when she had her daughter, then we can only hope that she shares a picture with the world on their royal Instagram account. (We want to see this amazing gift so we can daydream about Winfrey doing this for us, too). And even if she doesn’t, we can appreciate the fact that Winfrey is offering her friend one of the most beautiful gifts a child can get — the gift of literature.

While there are plenty of people who would rather tear someone down than lift them up, Oprah Winfrey is not one of them. It is nice to hear her praising Meghan Markle for her choices and the way she is choosing to live her life with her husband and future child. Plus, we love her baby gift and think it is truly an epic offering for any new parent.
