Bob is from Derry, Maine

Going back to the Stephen King theory, we know that Bob was from Maine and that he is afraid of clowns. Is he our connection to the world of Pennywise the Dancing Clown? Is he part of a Stephen King novel?

A lot of the theories connecting back to King’s world come from the fact that the Duffer brothers are fans of his work and thus have shout-outs in the series. While the theory goes that King’s world is part of the same world as Hawkins, Indiana, a direct connection has yet to happen. Bob being from Derry, Maine would be.

We might not know if he is. Bob, as far as we know, is dead. But a direct connection to Derry? Would it mean that the Demogorgon wouldn’t be the only monster the kids had to face? Withing the world of King, there were plenty of monsters and scary worlds that would make Hawkins just that much more frightening.

Connecting Bob to the world of Stephen King could mean that he comes back to life as well. Call up the Pet Sematary and throw Bob in it, so we can see what he comes back as. At least then we’d know for sure if the Duffer brothers are connecting us to Stephen King and his work or not.
