Thanos or the Night King: Who’s more formidable?
Overall, both Thanos and the Night King share some similar qualities in common. At the base of their abilities is their strength, which is unmatched by any human standards. It takes a horde of superheroes to try and fight off Thanos, while the Night King came out as a survivor in the war against the Children of the Forest and the First Men.
On top of that, they also have aces up their sleeves. Thanos can wield the Infinity Gauntlet, and has an unlimited arsenal of powers from it. The Night King, on the other hand, innately possess a supernatural ability that allows him to reanimate the dead as wights.
Both also carry armies behind them. Thanos controls the alien Chitauris and the Outriders, with the Children of Thanos at his side. The Night King leads his army of the dead, with the White Walkers at his side. No matter how much they have in common, though, there can only be one clear winner.
And the winner is… Thanos.
Let’s put this into perspective by doing a villain swap. If the Night King, by some way, were to invade Earth in the MCU, the Avengers would have no problem defeating him. Sure, it may take some extra time to kill off the massive amount of wights, but a team of Avengers could easily stop him in his place and put an end to his madness. With Iron Man or Captain Marvel high in the sky, they could take him and his army out from above like it was nothing.
On the other hand, the people of Westeros and Essos would not be equally matched with Thanos. While Brienne of Tarth and Arya seriously kick butt, the humans aren’t necessarily built like superheroes. There are some elements of the supernatural used by humans, like Melisandre’s magic or Beric’s Lightbringer, but it’s no comparison to the countless things Thanos could do with the Infinity Gauntlet. With just the snap of his fingers, half of the Westeros as we knew it would be gone in an instant.
