Tessa Thompson discusses Valkyrie/Captain Marvel shipping, a new Thor movie, and more

Tessa Thompson discussed Valkyrie and Captain Marvel shipping, Val’s Endgame fate, a new Thor film and more during her press tour for Little Woods.

Tessa Thompson knows that we’re obsessed with her, which is a good thing because we can stop suppressing our daily Thompson Tweet threads, complete with all our Valkyrie-related fan theories.

Thanks to the dead-or-alive-themed Avengers: Endgame posters, plus a positive tweet from Thompson herself last year, we’re more than sure Valkyrie will return in Endgame, and do so in style. During a press event for Little Woods, Tessa Thompson discussed Valkyrie, her character’s potential cameo in Endgame, Thor 4, and a lot more; and she’s making us even more hopeful about Endgame.

We’ve been distraught ever since Infinity War debuted almost a year ago. Not because half the universe was dusted. And not because Heimdall and Loki died before the 10-minute-mark. Okay… we’re still a lot a bit bitter about that.

However, we’re more so distraught over the lack of Valkyrie in Infinity War. We love her, and we just want to see her again. As Thompson told the Los Angeles Times  at the event, Valkyrie was actually there in Infinity War — “she was in the bar” she joked.

Jokes aside, Thompson reassured fans that Valkyrie didn’t disintegrate at the end of Infinity War, adding that the Russo brothers claim Valkyrie isn’t dead. Perhaps there is hope for the heroes in Endgame! After all, we don’t have much faith in the surviving heroes success without a sword-slinging Valkyrie on their side of the battle.

After penning costar Brie Larson’s triumphs as Time‘s 100 most influential people, Thompson also discussed Carol Danvers during the Little Woods press event. This time, the topic turns toward a fan-favorite ship: MarVal (or Carolyrie or ValCarol). Regardless, there was some ship discuss.

According to Pinkvilla, Thompson shares her thoughts on the sapphic ship:

"That’s wild! It didn’t even occur to me, legitimately, that it was necessarily a romantic thing. I don’t even know what happens in the canon in terms of those characters or if they ever intersect, but I just love the idea of more women Marvel characters getting to intersect. I just think it’s so cool and it’s time and why not? There’re so many compelling female characters inside of the MCU."

While we’re still day-dreaming about a Valkyrie solo movie, trilogy, or a Disney+ series, Thompson also told the L.A. Times that she isn’t sure about the future of Thor 4, but she ” heard that a pitch has happened for .”

Now, we’re hopeful!

Could this be the rise of New Asgard, showing how the surviving Asgardians will rebuild? While the very hypothetical Thor 4 film could incorporate more comic accurate interpretations of Thor’s journey post-Endgame, we’re definitely more interested if Thor Odinson will even survive a second face-off against Thanos.

Granted, even if Thor doesn’t make it out of Avengers: Endgame, that isn’t necessarily the end of the Thor legacy because Odinson was never the only character to wield Mjolnir or the duties of being Thor — even a Midgardian took on the role of Thor and made her run as a realm-saving BA even more icon. (Everyone say thank you, Jane Foster.)

(We’re fairly certain Thor will make it out of Endgame alive, though.)

Beyond piecing together our funeral attire for the upcoming massacre on April 26, we still have a cork board full of conspiracy theories on why and how Valkyrie will have a cameo in Endgame.

After all, the Avengers lost a lot of friends and fellow heroes, and they’re clearly at an even greater disadvantage if they think they can beat Thanos without Valkyrie. Either way, we still have a lot to think about thanks to Tessa Thompson’s Little Woods press event.

Avengers: Endgame comes to theaters April 26.
