Game of Thrones season 8 premiere live stream: Watch online
It’s been a long Winter waiting for Game of Thrones to return, but the final season premiere has finally arrived. Here’s how to stream the episode.
It’s been almost two full years since Game of Thrones fans have been immersed in the ongoings of Westeros, but the long-anticipated eighth and final season is finally here—and, if the cast and crew are to be believed, the last six episodes of the series are well worth the wait.
The show’s seventh season left fans on quite the cliffhanger, both revealing Jon Snow’s true parentage—and the fact that he’s the Targaryen heir to the Iron Throne—and ending with the Night King and his new undead dragon tearing down the Wall. The army of the dead is on the march, and we’ll finally see them arrive at Winterfell during this upcoming season.
Understandably, fans are excited and nervous about the end. Our favorite characters are facing greater dangers than ever in this series finale, and given Game of Thrones’ brutal track record, it’s not likely that all of them will survive to see the series finale.
Thankfully, the season premiere isn’t likely to delve into the action immediately. First, Jon and Daenerys need to arrive at Winterfell, and their arrival is going to spark some serious tensions between the Northerners and Daenerys’ army. Jon’s willingness to even speak with Daenerys was met with skepticism by the Starks and their followers, so they won’t be pleased to learn that he’s bent the knee to the Targaryen queen.
In addition to those tensions, the series premiere is likely to be full of long-awaited reunions between characters. The Stark family hasn’t been together since the early episodes of the first season, and Jon might be surprised to discover who Arya and Bran have become while they were away from Winterfell.
There are also other interesting character reunions in store for us when Daenerys comes to the north. With Tyrion arriving at Winterfell, he’ll be forced to face the Starks—including his former wife, Sansa—again. It’ll be fascinating to see how the two of them handle that situation. It’ll be equally as awkward to witness Jaime and Bran coming together, especially now that Bran can see the past, present, and future (and likely knows that Jaime is the person to blame for his inability to walk).
And we certainly can’t forget the Hound’s presence. Arya might not be thrilled to see her former companion alive and working with her brother, but the Hound will be even less happy to see Brienne, especially after she defeated him during their duel.
With so much going on, the eighth season premiere is sure to be an epic beginning to the show’s conclusion—even if the fighting doesn’t start until later on.
