Doom Patrol season 1 episode 9 live stream: Watch online
Doom Patrol episode 9, “Jane Patrol,” is all about Jane. While the episode will be a tough, but introspective, look into the Underground, at least Cliff will be there for some (hopeful) support.
Comic book call outs and nerdy references are plentiful on the DC Universe series. In fact, it’s one of the many reasons we love the show. While the preview into Doom Patrol’s “Jane Patrol” gives us a primer for the emotionally strenuous journey ahead, the episode won’t just be about Jane.
Apart from giving us more insight into Jane’s past, “Jane Patrol” will also feature a pivotal moment in her and Cliff’s friendship — after all, Cliff still needs a chance to apologize for having rats in his brain.
Well, Cliff technically only had one rat in his head… or is Admiral Whiskers technically a field mouse? We’re checking on technicalities because we wouldn’t want to upset Admiral Whiskers, given his proclivity for revenge and his track record of following through. Judging by the this week’s synopsis, we have more prevalent matter than a mouse or may rat’s plot for vengeance.
According to Warner Bros. Television’s synopsis of Doom Patrol “Jane Patrol,” we’ll get an episode focused on Jane, her many alters, and her relationship with her alters:
"As a result of the team’s previous group therapy session, Jane retreats to The Underground, a treacherous place deep within her own mindspace. There, she encounters the various facets of her many personas and journeys to discover the dark traumas of her past."
We still sense a unique version of Doom Patrol (1987) #30 is underway for episode 9; however, based on the episode’s trailer, we might get some glimpses into Jane’s past. Specifically, back when her alters all got some intergalactically-sourced superpowers.
See, the alien guards in the teaser are a reference to the Dominators’ bomb that is the source of her alternate personalities’ powers. While the episode probably won’t be focused on the Dominators, or any other aliens for that matter, it’s clear that they’re still a dominating factor on Jane’s subconscious.
Nonetheless, the brief snippet of Driver 8, one of Jane’s alters we haven’t met before, implies that we could see even more alters who haven’t formally introduced themselves yet. However, we’ll also see her alters’ real appearances when they aren’t manifested as Jane lookalikes. Apart from the new alters and the Dominators, Doom Patrol‘s ninth episode will highlight new adventures and new insight.
A lot of imagery and character development will be alien in this episode. While Jane is navigating some of the toughest memories that her subconscious has either repressed or compartmentalized better her 64 different alters, this week’s episode will continue the mental health theme.
We just hope Jane gives Cliff a chance to apologize by the end of it, so she can return to Doom Manor.
