Shadowhunters season 3 episode 17 live stream: Watch online

Clary and her friends have officially captured the most dangerous Shadowhunter around. Now the trick is getting him to talk.

It was a close scrape – or more accurately, bite – but Clary has officially taken her brother into custody.

Fittingly, Jonathan’s being given the Hannibal Lecter treatment. They’ve chained up his arms and legs so he can’t use his twinning rune to hurt Clary, they’ve even put a muzzle-type device on him. Of course, that may not even be necessary; it doesn’t look like Jonathan is talking anytime soon.

Here’s what we’re looking at this week, according to Freeform’s official synopsis:

"Simon and Izzy team up on a secret mission to figure out what the Clave is hiding. Meanwhile, Clary is conflicted about Jonathan as the Shadowhunters try to get answers."

If Jonathan wouldn’t even let Clary in on his plan in Paris, it seems unlikely that the rest of the Institute will be able to get answers out of him. And again, with that binding rune, it’s not like they  can torture him.

Speaking of torture though, let’s focus on that first part of the synopsis. Simon and Izzy are on the  trail to figure out what exactly is going on with Heavenly Fire. Of course, the real torture is the slow burn of Sizzy. Will this ship ever fully set sail?

But torture is what sparked this hunt. Izzy knows Downworlders are going through some terrible things at the Gard. Conveniently, that’s where she sent Raphael just a few weeks ago. Could they be running into him once more tonight?

Notably missing from the previewed action tonight is Lilith. After escaping last week with Cain, it’s hard to believe she won’t raise some literal Hell. The real question is whether she still has enough love in her to help her son.

After his actions last week, I wouldn’t bet on it.
