Taylor Swift – “Style” and “I Knew You Were Trouble”

Here we have a two-for-one deal, as Taylor Swift actually wrote more than one song about her ex, Harry Styles. While we are only focusing on “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “Style,” there is said to be at least one more song, “Out of the Woods,” that was inspired by the former member of One Direction.

Much like “Dear John” seemed obvious because of its use of John in the title, “Style” is definitely a play off of Styles last name (clearly). And the lyrics, “You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye,” and “You’ve got that long hair slick back, white t-shirt,” have certainly given plenty of people reason to believe that this song is all about her romance with the singer.

Taylor Swift also told Ryan Seacrest in an interview that the song was inspired by a relationship that never really felt like it was right. She admitted that it forced her to look at past relationships and reevaluate her own role in the things that went wrong.

When it comes to “I Knew You Were Trouble,” the initial reaction was that it was once again about John Mayer, but after further clarification from Swift, it became clear that it was not about the “Gravity” singer. Instead, it was said that she sang while Styles was in the audience, and she even admitted that the person who the song was about was there when she first performed the song.

When talking about this song, Swift has said that it is all about a relationship that leaves you frustrated because you knew it was most likely going to end badly, but yet you couldn’t resist giving it a chance anyway. And that is definitely something many of us can relate to.

All things considered, having not one but three Taylor Swift songs inspired by a single person is rather impressive. And it definitely makes us think that Harry Styles might be a fascinating person to meet.
