The Weeknd – “Call Out My Name”
When The Weeknd released his six track album, My Dear Melancholy, it was clear that the entire collection was about the singer’s breakups from both Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez. However, according to Elle Magazine, it seems that one song in particular was really all about Gomez.
“Call Out My Name” was a single song that allowed us all a chance to see the heartbreak that the singer endured after his breakup from Selena Gomez. Why was his heart-broken? Because he was still in love with her.
Not only does the song talk about the connection that they had, but also how he gave her so much, including support and understanding. And while she apparently offered him comfort, it seems as if it was simply not enough to make things work between these two.
Even with lines like, “I helped you out of a broken place,” and “But falling for you was my mistake,” this song is equal parts romantic and heartbreaking on its own. While The Weeknd may have felt like their relationship was perhaps a mistake, it is clear that one point he definitely loved Slena Gomez, and with this song we get a chance to see just how much. (Considering how many people talked badly about these two as a couple, it is nice to have at least a song to point to as a way to say that they really were together for the right reasons.)
It may not have worked out between The Weeknd and Gomez, but at least their breakup helped inspire some excellent music that we can play after our own breakups.
