Calysta Bevier was 16 years old when we caught our first glimpse of her. The teenager made her debut when her singing a rendition of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” went viral.

The performance had a special meaning behind it. When she was 15, she was diagnosed with a form of Ovarian Cancer and has since been in remission. Her story attracted millions, including Ellen Degeneres, who had her on the show and surprised her with Rachel Platten herself.

Bevier was thrust into the spotlight once again when she auditioned for America’s Got Talent with Platten’s song. Bevier made it through to the semi-finals of season 11 where she sang “Human” by Christina Perri. Unfortunately, she did not make it to the finals and was sent home.

Since then, Bevier has moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream as a singer and has signed with an agency to start producing her own original music.  Many would think that dealing with such a traumatic event at a young age would erase any hope and strength they may have to get through it. Bevier is the exception. She pushed her way through her cancer and is now living her life posting videos of her singing on YouTube.
