15 must-watch singing acts from America’s Got Talent
Johnny Manuel
Johnny Manuel is one of the few contestants on the show hoping for a second chance at becoming a star. When he was 14 years old, he was signed to a contract to make music under the name Lil Johnny.
For three years, he created songs but eventually was dropped by the company at 17. This, of course, took a toll on the singer. He quit music and took up odd jobs to make money. Time passed and at 32 years old, he decided to take a second chance and make something of himself once again. He auditioned for season 12 of the show with Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.” He made it to the Semifinals where he sang an original song called “Blind Faith,” but did not make it to the finals.
He is now one of the five members of the musical group Equinox. This group was a part of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest which represented Bulgaria. The group performed the song “Bones,” which came in seventh place in the semifinals. Manuel continues to sing with the group and loves being a part of something different. Admittedly, we definitely were not expecting this transition, but it’s a refreshing and exciting change and we can’t wait to see what comes out of it.
