Tonight’s episode of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists is called “Sex, Lies and Alibis.” Some things truly never change in this world.

As promised in Ava’s premiere voiceover, someone has officially snapped and killed on Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. Now the question is who did it, and why?

Nolan Hotchkiss wasn’t the easiest person to appreciate, especially not to his “friends”. And yet, heading into the second episode of the series, each one of them seems rattled by his murder.

Any fan of PLL knows that this early in the game, the killer could be anyone, for any number of reasons. It’s likely that we haven’t even met them yet. But considering Nolan’s murder was the exact fantasy Caitlin had, she’s feeling most of the heat tonight.

Fortunately, there’s another constant in the world of PLL that every fan knows: the new Liars will protect each other. Here’s how Freeform breaks it down in the official synopsis:

"In the wake of Nolan’s murder, Ava, Caitlin and Dylan join forces to give themselves a credible alibi on the night in question. Alison goes toe to toe with Dana Booker, BHU’s new head of security, who is suspicious of Nolan’s “perfect” posse. And Mona starts slipping into old habits while wrestling with a guilty conscience."

Yes, it seems the return of Crazy Mona is upon us, and that means tonight’s episode is going to be a ride.

Of course, her guilt may be warranted. Mona is clearly in deep with the powers that be at BHU. She knew that surveillance was constant, and that Nolan Hotchkiss was a threat. She even asked if “we” were responsible for his murder at the end of the premiere.

For what it’s worth, she was asking it hysterically, which means it probably wasn’t the intended outcome. Crazy Mona will always be around, but Murderous Mona might actually be gone.

Meanwhile, Alison seems to be keeping her promise of helping this new generation of Liars. She was never really around to deal with the worst of Lieutenant Tanner in the original series, so seeing Ali square up against this Dana Booker should be a lot of fun.

Just because she didn’t take on Tanner doesn’t mean Ali doesn’t know her way around police/security. Then again, Ali is truly trying to be a better person, hoping to finally secure the trust of Emily.

Her actions in the next few episodes should be pretty telling of how much she’s changed, if at all.
