This is the (sort of) cross-over we didn’t know we needed. Here’s everything you need to know about the Riverdale live stream and how to watch online this week.

Some fans may only understand Heathers through the recent musical and failed TV series, but some of us will remember the classic teen movie from the late ’80s.

Cheryl gave us a little hint at what’s to come, but it seems like Riverdale is running full steam into some of those same themes in this week’s “Chapter Fifty-One: BIG FUN.”

The episode’s title is a play on the T-shirt worn by the film’s underdog, Martha, but it is also a nod to a song from the musical reboot. Jughead makes the connection a little clearer (as if Cheryl’s question, “What’s your damage?” wasn’t enough). He succinctly links the two texts by identifying Heathers‘ themes of “teen alienation and desperation,” and FP really brings it home, declaring the obvious: “Riverdale’s filled with a lot of desperate folks.”

There’s some other stuff happening, as well, but let’s not let Hiram and Hermione’s separation distract us from the big news here: a Heathers-inspired musical episode with Cheryl as the main Heather.

While some characters are busy hanging their head into their heads, we’ll be eating up all the snarky call-backs to our favorite (and very, very dark) movie that proved what being a mean girl can get you.
