It’s a sad time for Riverdale fans. Our beloved Fred, played by Luke Perry, passed away on Monday. As devoted Riverdale-stans, it’s hard to know how to watch the show without him.
Riverdale has suspended production on the show temporarily, but a new episode will still air this week. The best thing we can do, as fans, is to keep faithful to our sweet, campy show, and try to enjoy it like we always have. Even though there will be a giant Fred-sized hole in our hearts…

This week’s “Chapter Forty-Nine: Fire Walk With Me” is an obvious nod to David Lynch and his ground-breaking pulp-noir murder mystery Twin Peaks. Critics have been comparing these two shows from the beginning, with Riverdale being more like a Twin Peaks-lite.
It’s unclear, at the moment, how the series will pay tribute to Perry, or how the show will handle the Fred character going forward. All I know is that Riverdale just lost its pep and the show will hurt for some time for having lost such a sweet spirit.
