This is the look of a woman who knows she has a particularly good shot at winning an Oscar (finally), and this look was just as stunning on the stage and backstage, when she got to pose with her Oscar for Black Panther‘s costume design. There are so many textures and patterns going on here. But, as you may expect from a costume designer, she has them all working together and providing a cohesive look, with different patterns and colors calling to each other. No one pattern dominates the other, thanks to the blue taking center stage.

She may have gone 0 for 7 in her Oscar nominations, including this year, but that did not stop Glenn Close from dressing for the drama. The train alone makes this worthy, but again, just check out her face. She’s wearing something that’s fantastic for her. Additionally, the color really works, thanks to the lighting giving her a bunch of different shades, from nearly white up top to almost a green in the train.

Again, the expression on her face is what really sells it, though. Some stars always pose very seriously, but when you see the joy or delight coming through, it just elevates a look to a whole new level.
