This photo was specifically chosen because it makes it clear that yes, Chadwick Boseman did wear pants and not a skirt to the Oscars. It was awfully curious for this writer, so thank you, photographers and Chadwick Boseman, for giving us this photo (and just this look in general).

Even though they are wide-legged pants, they call the idea of a skirt or otherwise super-long tails to mind, and we appreciate the continuation of his jacket pattern through the pant. If anything, we don’t know why he has the long scarf that’s … that long, because it’s kind of distracting from everything else that’s working for us.

Did you think we would forget the look that was all over Twitter? Did you think we could ignore that Billy Porter saw Chadwick Boseman’s still-pants but skirt-esque ensemble and raised him with a velvet gown that had a tuxedo top? How could we forget the cuffs? Or the face that he is serving? Fashion is for everyone, and no one has been emphasizing that more than Billy Porter.

It’s almost a shame that awards season is over, because we just want to see what he’ll wear next.
