Rocket has already met Carol

In the comics, Rocket and Carol have some history. Mostly, Rocket tried to buy Chewie (her comic book Flerken friend) from her. During his unproductive negotiations with Carol, Chewie managed to lay 117 Flerken eggs while a pirate ship attacked them because they wanted to steal the extremely rare and deadly Flerken.

Eventually, Carol, Rocket, and Chewie all made amends, particularly after Chewie saved Rocket by engulfing an entire armed ship. (Rocket implicitly developed a little bit of a crush on the Flerken too.) Comics aside, Rocket has thoroughly traveled the multiple MCU galaxies. Given Carol’s first appeared as an MCU hero is in the ’90s, they could have met before Rocket officially became a Guardian and before Carol meets the rest of the surviving Avengers and company.

Like all of the theories in this slideshow, this theory is obviously still unconfirmed. We’re still convinced when Carol and Rocket do finally meet on-screen, there will be a healthy amount of comic book references to that time Rocket tried to buy her Flerken from her.

Any vague hints that Rocket and Carol could have already met in the MCU already has us hankering for a flashback induced team-up between the two (and Goose, obviously).
