The stigma behind mental health has positively shifted over the past few years. A social media culture, along with celebrities speaking out about it, are to thank for it.

The National Alliance of Mental Health reports that 1 in 5 young people (aged 13-18) in the United States experience a severe mental disorder at some point in their lives. But up until recently, we weren’t being taught anything about this; we weren’t being told that our mental health is just as important as our physical health.

We’re confident that this change in open dialogue surrounding anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorders, and other forms of mental illness stems from social media, celebrities, and an increasing culture of “talking about it.” Thanks to social media culture and celebrities who’ve taken it upon themselves to end the stigma, mental health is being discussed much more widely.

Here are 15 celebs who are positively raising awareness for mental health.
