Saturday Night Live season 44 episode 13 live stream: Watch online
By Mia Johnson
Don Cheadle’s heating up the Saturday Night Live stage this week as the host, and he’ll be joined by Gary Clark Jr. as the musical guest. Here’s how to watch.
To put it in the words of an eager fan on YouTube: War Machine is hosting SNL! Not the actual War Machine of Marvel fame, of course, but specifically his actor, Don Cheadle.
I can already expect that we’ll get a great show from Saturday Night Live with this acting veteran as the host. And as Marvel fans, we’d really love to see another Avengers sketch from the SNL team. Hosts like Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, and Chadwick Boseman have done their part to do be in Avengers sketches. So hopefully we’ll get lucky just one more time with another parody including Cheadle. (And honestly, we’re so excited about this that we’ve already dreamt up some ways a sketch like that could go.)
Unfortunately, we don’t always get what we want when it comes to parodies on SNL. Last time we asked for a Glass and X-Men parody when James McAvoy hosted, but they never ended up doing that. Perhaps movie parodies aren’t the shining trophy of sketches when it comes to the writers, but it’s still enough to get a lot of buzz the next day. And of course, the fans will always absolutely love them.
Now, last week’s cold open was a bit NSFW, and it really lowered my standards for cold opens. As long as they don’t limit themselves to making immature jokes for the duration of the opening this week, I’ll pretty much approve of it.
The big news this week: Donald Trump eagerly awaiting to declare a national emergency to get his border wall funded. We may be in luck, because SNL featured a video of Alec Baldwin suiting up (wig and all) to be Trump. So it looks like we’ll see him return in this episode for more Trump shenanigans.
