While some of the biggest winners at last night’s Grammy Awards kept it relatively simple on the red carpet, other attendees went all-out.

If there was a theme of last night’s Grammy Awards, at least on the red carpet, it was “volume, but in occasionally weird places” for the women, and “wild suits” for the men. But rather than force every single look that fits those metrics upon you, we’ve narrowed it down to 11 looks.

Most, if not all of them, will fit those categories, but there might be a few surprises here and there. We’d hate to be predictable on a night when pretty much nothing was predictable in terms of fashion — and there were even a few surprises in the victories, too. (Hey there, Cardi B. This isn’t the first mention she’ll be getting, either.)

Without further ado, let us begin.

Lady Gaga

Gaga has been on a lot of these lists during awards season, and there’s a method to our madness here. She — or her team — knows that there’s going to be a lot of eyes on her due to the hype around A Star is Born. While Gaga in earlier times may have taken these opportunities to wear some absolutely mind-bending dresses, she’s keeping it simple this time around, just with a weird poof of volume on her side.

Is it a bow? Is it supposed to evoke waves and thus link to “Shallow,” which is the big song from the movie? We don’t know, but we’re talking about it, which is probably the point. Also, exposed roots are back!
