Mindy and Danny – The Mindy Project

What you need to know: The series initially pits these characters against each other, making Mindy the flighty, self-centered foil to Danny’s uptight curmudgeon. Their sexual tension is evident to everyone except them, and it becomes a running joke among the other characters on the show and among viewers.

Of course they eventually get together, but their “opposites attract”-fueled tension turns into a battle of values between two folks who were very, very different.

Why we ‘ship them so hard: Just like so many iconic couples on this list, you can tell they’re genuine friends first. Even when their relationship falls apart, Mindy and Danny work hard to stay in each other’s lives and respect the other. This kind of compatibility became the driving engine for ‘shippers of the two, and we just wanted them to get over themselves and be together already.

Their relationship takes a more serious turn when Mindy gets pregnant and they become a family. Their ideas about how to be parents and what role they should each play in the relationship clash horribly, but through it all, it’s very clear that they should be together.

How to watch it all unfold: The show originally aired on FOX, so consequently, the humor was a little broader. Once it moved to Hulu, officially, it had more freedom to explore the nuances of Mindy’s life as a mother and wife. You can watch the whole show on Hulu now.
