Alicia and Will – The Good Wife

What you need to know: This particular relationship was the world’s biggest ‘ship tease, and I still feel cheated about how it all played out. Alicia and Will were old college friends when she comes to work at his office years later. She arrives as the disgraced wife of an unfaithful politician with more cardigans and headbands than we’d like to count.

However, as she distances herself from her husband, she gains momentum as a lawyer, and she and Will grow closer. They eventually get together briefly, but circumstances get in the way. He soon dies, having not fulfilled my ultimate ‘ship wish for these two.

Why we ‘ship them so hard: This couple is just so freakin’ restrained. Every scene is loaded with sexual tension that hardly ever finds anything even remotely resembling an outlet. So, in the few times, they are together without abandon, they practically explode all over each other. Yes, the build-up provides a lot of narrative tension, but it made for some excruciating viewing experiences.

A true ‘shipper knows there’s nothing more attractive than unfinished business, so Will’s death elevates this duo into mythic status. Who knows? Maybe if they did get together in a real and everyday way, we would have tired of them and moved on to other possible love interests for Alicia.

Where to watch it all unfold: You can also watch it on CBS and CBS All Access.
