Arrow season 7 episode 10 live stream: Watch online
By Amy Woolsey
When it last aired an episode, Arrow left viewers one heck of a twist. If you’re dying to know more, check out the midseason premiere tonight.
Season 7 of Arrow got off to a slow and rather uninspiring start, as Oliver languished in prison for several episodes and his friends struggled to adjust to their post-Team Arrow lives. However, the deliberate pace did allow new character dynamics to form, particularly between Felicity and Laurel, and the midseason finale took the show in a promising direction.
First of all, although it doesn’t quite make up for the prison arc itself, I was pleasantly surprised by how Arrow dealt with its aftermath. Oliver appears to be sincere about wanting to reform the Star City prison system, even if his methods (i.e. relying on the altruism of wealthy people) are questionable. My appreciation for Rene grows every week. And the burgeoning conflict between him and Felicity felt organic, revealing how each of them has changed and how those changes might endanger their relationship.
Then, of course, there’s the cliffhanger, which identified the mysterious new Green Arrow as none other than Oliver’s long-lost half-sister. Back in the season 1 episode “Vertigo,” Oliver told Thea that their father had been unfaithful to Moira, but for most of the show’s run, that fact had been lost amid all of Robert Queen’s other misdeeds. I’d been kind of missing the Queen family drama of season 1, so this latest turn of events is intriguing, to say the least.
Why did Emiko Queen decide to visit Star City now? Will she and Oliver bond, or will they be at odds? Based on the synopsis for this week’s episode, titled “My Name Is Emiko Queen,” we won’t have to wait long for answers. You can read the official description below, courtesy of The CW:
"OLIVER RETURNS TO HIS REGULAR LIFE IN STAR CITY — Oliver (Stephen Amell) is ready to get back to work with the SCPD and to focus on his marriage with Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). However, when Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) tasks Oliver with tracking the new Green Arrow (Sea Shimooka) things take a surprising turn. Meanwhile, Diggle (David Ramsey) and Lyla (guest star Audrey Marie Anderson) must answer to ARGUS about Diaz (Kirk Acevedo)."
I’ll be honest: Diggle and Lyla’s ARGUS investigation has been struggling to hold my attention. In addition to being weirdly convoluted, it feels disconnected from the rest of the show, offering little beyond giving Diggle and, briefly, Curtis something to do. However, Diaz’s involvement suggests there’s more to this plot than meets the eye. No doubt, this will cause trouble for Diggle and Oliver down the line.
Andi Armaganian directs from a script by Benjamin Raab and Deric A. Hughes.
