14. Whiplash

Portrayed by Mickey Rourke in Iron Man 2, Whiplash is also known as Ivan Vanko. As a villain, Whiplash’s story is one that gives him a sense of righteousness that is sometimes missing from our bad guys. His whole purpose is to avenge his father’s death and general fall from grace, and right or wrong, we think it is almost admirable for a man to be so committed to his family that he would turn to villainy in order to basically clear his father’s name.

In fact, we think that commitment to family is exactly what makes Whiplash so perfectly dateable. We all know that when it comes to finding the right partner, family is important. Do they love their parents? Are they family-oriented? Do they want their own family? These are the kinds of questions we often want answers to when it comes to finding a significant other.

While we may not have concrete answers to these questions when it comes to Whiplash, his desire to avenge his father after the disgrace that befell him is a clear indication that family matters. And honestly, we are always here for a man who puts his family first. (Although we admit we wish he had gone about it a bit differently.)

It really is Whiplash’s own sense of both righteousness and honor that makes him a prime candidate for dating. We think he is the kind of man who will support his partner and protect them at all costs. And what’s not to love about that?
