How to Get Away with Murder season 5 episode 9 live stream: Watch online

Death has come once again to How to Get Away with Murder, and now that the back half of the season is here, it’s time to dive back in.

For those who have completely forgotten a significant number of plot developments from the first half of season 5 of How to Get Away with Murder, let’s refresh you on the most significant two from the mid-season finale. First, DA Ron Miller, sometime-love interest for Bonnie and weak replacement after the loss of DA Denver, has died at the wedding of Connor and Oliver, who are definitely married and alive. Second, Gabriel is Sam Keating’s son, and since Annalise was the other woman, he seems to have reason to not be friendly to her in particular.

Of course, that’s putting it mildly. This is, after all, a Shonda Rhimes show, and drama is not only expected, but practically required. We’re sure Gabriel has some sort of impressive plot to take Annalise down for depriving him of any chance he had at a relationship with his dad; it might not actually be her fault that he’s dead, but that might not matter to him.

“He Betrayed Us Both” has a synopsis that looks like this via ABC:

"Now that Connor and Oliver have tied the knot, the crew must deal with the consequences of the wedding night’s murder; and Annalise is forced to reckon with secrets from her past."

Well, the “secrets from her past” almost certainly refers to the whole fact that Sam was cheating with Annalise, since Sam was not only a cheater once, but at least twice — something about a “dead girl’s phone” comes to mind. It’s almost certain that Annalise speaks the line that names the episode to Gabriel, as they are in Annalise’s apartment at the end of the winter finale; it’s equally likely that if she says the line, she’s referring to Sam specifically, not only posing a dead man in opposition to herself, but in opposition to both herself and Gabriel, thus connecting them. It might not pay off, but it’s certainly a strategy.
