Get the Look: ASOS classic trench coat, high neck midi dress
There is something special about how Meghan Markle is able to take trench coats and other styles of outerwear and make them just as much a fashion statement as the dresses or pants underneath. And during her royal tour stop in Auckland, New Zealand, the Duchess of Sussex paired a lovely beige trench coat by Burberry with a simple shift dress in a light cream color.
Since all of the pictures we saw of this look showed the duchess with the coat on, in order to copy this look, it is all about the coat, even as the dress itself is the pop we want to see. While the coat is perhaps the trickier thing to snag on a budget, the shift dress is definitely tricky since we don’t know what kind of sleeves she had.
That being said, we have found the perfect dress and coat to make this look your own. Up first, we chose a trench coat from ASOS. It comes in both regular and tall sizes, as a well as a longer, slightly more expensive version. This coat is a good alternative to the Burberry option she wore, especially when you look at the price tag. (This coat comes in at $87.)
For the dress, we went with a dress that offers a surprise when you take off the trench coat. This dress, also from ASOS, is a midi-length white dress with a high neckline and a plunging V-neck in the back. The sleeves of this dress are long with a bit of flare at the end. And at $56, you won’t be breaking the bank snagging this simple shift/sheath dress.
