4. Wolf Spider

Wolf Spider isn’t really a major villain in any sense of the word. He isn’t even malicious in his attacks against Kate or the city. In fact, Wolf Spider, AKA Evan Blake, is actually one of Kate’s good friends. Thanks to the arachnid-themed attire, she just never finds out that she periodically fights her friend.

Evan Blake is Kate’s ex-friend who broke their friendship when he embarked on a series of art-stealing heists. After his introduction as the villain Wolf Spider in Batwoman (2011) #26, she doesn’t actually know that he’s her close friend because he inevitably evades capture.

Creating this simultaneous friend and foe storyline could set up a dynamic relationship between the two and lead to Kate’s life-long journey of difficult decisions. After all, nobody ideally wants to send their close friend to prison or Arkham.
