76th Annual Golden Globes Awards live stream: Watch online
Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg will share hosting duties at this year’s Golden Globes. Who will prevail in the awards? Here’s how to see it all.
Awards season as we know it for 2019 has truly begun. Although the Oscars are still over a month away, and the Emmys won’t actually happen until this fall as normal, the Golden Globes are here less than a week into the new year. Honestly, that’s not a bad thing: we can still remember most of 2018 in television and film, right?
Well, hosts Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh presumably hope you do, or otherwise you might not enjoy most of their jokes and banter — or have strong opinions on who takes home each and every award being presented during tonight’s ceremony.
And there will be plenty of awards, because unlike the Oscars or the Emmys, the Golden Globes cover both film and TV. You’ll get your Best Motion Picture awards for both Musical or Comedy and Drama, but there are also best TV series awards for both categories, too. That means the acting categories are also increased, although there’s no separation in the supporting categories for either movies or TV.
A significant number of presenters have already been announced. According to ET, legends like Dick Van Dyke, Harrison Ford, and Lucy Liu have presenting duties alongside more newly familiar names like Michael B. Jordan and Lena Waithe. Honestly, it might be worth watching just to see who gets paired up with whom.
Beyond that, of course, is what these awards mean for future awards. Suffice it to say that it’s easier to win again after you’ve won once, and films like Black Panther are probably hoping to snag some victories here in order to get some momentum going into the rest of awards season.
The show is live across the United States, so you’ll have to adjust for your time zone as necessary. (For example, the ceremony will start at 7 p.m. CT and 5 p.m. PT.
