15. Terminator 6

Listen. We all have our personal reasons for why we’re excited for some movies more than others. And a short-haired Mackenzie Davis in a white tank top, looking like she’s just finished changing your tire on a remote country back road and is about to invite you back to her woodsy cabin for dinner? Is a very compelling reason.

Biceps aside, the new Terminator movie could be interesting for a lot of reasons. It takes place immediately after Terminator 2: Judgment Day (aka the best Terminator movie ever) and will essentially retcon all the movies which came after it; that’s not entirely a bad move, in my humble opinion. The most two recent Terminator movies have been certified putrid (something about the “y” in Genisys just says it all), and even the third in 2003 was definitely a step down from the previous two.

Though it can feel sort of cheap to just wipe the slate clean and start over, it still leaves the possibility open that the second time could be the charm. It will be really interesting to see what different directions the new canon goes in compared to the old; obviously the rise of Skynet seems like a given, but when you have time travel in the mix, anything could happen. And it’s being directed by Tim Miller, the guy who directed Deadpool, which could mean some interesting tonal changes.

Then again, at this point James Cameron could announce that the plot of the next Terminator movie is just two and a half hours of watching Mackenzie Davis fix a car engine, and I would see it three times in theaters.
