Jaime will kill Cersei

Another popular theory among Game of Thrones fans is that Jaime will be the one to kill Cersei. Though it seems outrageous that he’d kill his twin sister—and lover—tensions have been building between the two of them for quite a while now. One could even say that Jaime is done with his sister entirely as he rides away from King’s Landing at the end of season 7.

And while being angry with his sister doesn’t necessarily mean he’d want to kill her, the prophecy Cersei receives from Maggy the fortune teller in the A Song of Ice and Fire books does support the fact that Jaime might turn on her. The show skips over this part of the prophecy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t return to it.

When predicting Cersei’s future, Maggy tells her that the valonqar will be the one to “choke the life from her.” Valonqar means “little brother” in High Valyrian. Fans may be tempted to believe that this prophecy refers to Tyrion Lannister, the younger brother Cersei has always hated, but it actually might fit Jaime a bit better—especially when you consider that the writers in both the book and show go out of their way to emphasize that Jaime is the younger twin.

Jaime being the one to kill Cersei would be an interesting turn of events, especially when you consider that she could easily be considered the “Mad Queen.” We know Jaime already betrayed the “Mad King,” earning himself the nickname “Kingslayer.” Perhaps after season 8, he’ll be able to add “Queenslayer” to his resume as well.

There’s also the possibility that Jaime himself won’t be the one to end Cersei’s life. It’s possible someone donning Jaime’s appearance could do it for him…
