14. Cindy Lou Who (The Grinch)

This is probably not much of a surprise, but we are back to The Grinch for another cheerful holiday character. However, this time we have to hit up Whoville for our choice. And who could forget Cindy Lou Who?

While every version of the story features Cindy and her impact on the Grinch, in the latest movie (which we love, if you couldn’t tell), this little girl’s wish for the holidays is for her mom. It turns out that this time around, Cindy’s mom is a single parent who has to work all the time to support her little family (Cindy and her twin baby brothers, Buster and Bean). And all Cindy Lou Who wants for Christmas is for Santa to help her mother out so that she doesn’t have to work so hard all the time.

Of course, this is not the only reason we love this little Whoville child. The thing is that even after she learns about what the Grinch did to Christmas, she is still willing to invite him to dinner with them because she doesn’t want him to be alone in his cave. And you know what? That gives us all the feels as we realize that no matter what happens, Cindy is a cheerful child with hope and forgiveness in her heart. And what’s more cheerful than that?
