Set the table
Although this partially falls under decor, it is important for any dinner party to properly set the table. And if you are going for a royal theme, it is even more important.
Luckily there are plenty of etiquette guides that can help you set the perfect table. And thanks to Hello, there is even a picture for handy reference. From where to put the glassware to how the forks and other silverware need to be laid out, a perfect place setting is critical to a dinner party worthy of royalty. Below are a few highlights of how to set the table just right.
- Main plate: In the center.
- Forks: Go to the left of the plate.
- Knives: To the right of the plate.
- Soup spoon: To the right of the knives.
- Dessert spoon and fork: They both go above the plate. The spoon is up top with the handle facing right. The fork is below the spoon with the handle facing left.
- Side plates: To the far left.
- Glasses: Placed on the top right of your place setting.
To take things even further, you can even give your guests a mini lesson on how to properly set a table. That just may ensure you get invited to a few fancy dinner parties yourself later.
