Glenn leads Amy through some strange manager-training exercises on this week’s episode of Superstore.
Amy’s going to become a store manager — if she can survive a training course taught by Glenn Sturgis, that is.
Last week’s episode of Superstore set a couple of big changes into motion. Amy and Jonah attended a manager’s conference in Chicago on the company’s dime. At first, the trip was just a chance to escape the store and her newborn for a night, but after racking up iPads and other expensive freebies, and seeing how upper-level executives viewed her fellow floor-workers, it seems Amy might be making a bit of a power grab soon.
Of course, before she earns a title change she has to survive Glenn’s managerial training.
Judging from photos released for the episode and the show’s official synopsis, we’re guessing that won’t be as easy as it sounds.
Here’s the official episode description from NBC:
"Glenn (Mark McKinney) drives Amy (America Ferrera) crazy with a new, over the top training system. Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom) and Mateo (Nico Santos) brainstorm a new business, while Dina (Lauren Ash) recruits Jonah (Ben Feldman) to help her when she starts second-guessing her own future."
While Amy tries to navigate her way through the store blindfolded and complete other inane tasks set up by Glenn, Dina seeks advice from Jonah of all people about her career prospects. That seems like another surprising development, considering Dina has always seemed well-suited to the role of assistant manager. Also surprising? Dina going to Jonah for advice. The dude dropped out of college and just now came clean to his parents about not attending medical school. He may not be the best person to go to with these kinds of problems.

While Amy contemplates more responsibility at work and Dina mulls over her future, Mateo and Cheyenne partner on a new business venture. The good news: if Mateo is considering starting a new business, maybe that means all of those threats of deportation last week are empty? Glenn did his best to hide Mateo’s undocumented status on last week’s episode so here’s hoping that secret stays hidden. The bad news: any business venture with Cheyenne involved probably won’t get far.
