Supernatural season 14 episode 9 live stream: Watch online

Supernatural’s mid-season finale synopsis is preparing us for a heavy cliffhanger. You’re not going to want to miss a minute of “The Spear.”

Supernatural has carried on (pun intended) to its 14th season, and now we’re midway through that season. Although Michael looked like he was defeated early on, it’s more like he lost a battle — but the war is still ongoing.

Enter “The Spear.” Even the episode name doesn’t sound very good for the Winchesters and their allies, does it? Speaking of those allies, though, it’s time to have another old friend come back to help Dean and Sam out.

The CW has a synopsis for “The Spear,” which is tonight’s mid-season finale:

"THE BEST LAID PLANS — Sam and Dean enlist the help of their pal Garth to gain inside information on what Michael may be planning. The brothers split up to each go after weapons that can aid in their fight against the Archangel, but this may be a fight our heroes cannot win."

“Party On, Garth,” indeed. (That episode came out in 2012, and we’re still riding around, fighting the paranormal. Obviously, the line that should give you pause is the final clause, about how “our heroes cannot win” — or at least the possibility.

To be fair, it wouldn’t make much sense to solve the major problem of the season (that is, Michael) less than halfway through the season, even if this is the winter finale. You might be wondering why Garth is showing up, he is still a werewolf, and he might have heard from other werewolves how the monster plans are progressing for Michael. Moreover, if Michael has further improved his ability to make monsters stronger, Garth may have heard about that, too. Information will be key in this fight, as will those weapons mentioned in the synopsis.

However, the brothers are usually stronger apart than they are together, and so to see them separate, even in the pursuit of a way to defeat Michael, might end poorly. All in all, things could be bleak while we wait through the break.
