Avengers: Endgame gets trolled Deadpool style by a mystery prankster
By Mia Johnson
It seems like Deadpool always has to have the last laugh, and he isn’t going to let the Avengers steal his spotlight — not even on the internet.
If Deadpool could talk right now, he’d be staring at all us who are oggling at the Avengers: Endgame trailer and asking “Hello? Did any of you remember I’m the actual guy who has a movie coming out? Avengers: Endgame is like a bajillion months away.”
Of course, while Deadpool is real in our hearts, he can’t really tell us that in real life. And so in lieu of that, a mystery fan of the Deadpool movies had a mischievous prank to pull to redirect our attention back to the Merc. For those curious to head to an Avengers: Endgame-related website, you might find it has nothing to do with the Avengers, and everything to do with Deadpool.
The website “avengersendgame.com” and “avengersendgamemovie.com” currently both redirect to the Once Upon a Deadpool official website. While it isn’t certain for sure who’s behind it, ComicBook.com found a person on Twitter who claims they were behind the epic prank.
If this is true, the person behind the website switcheroo is hoping for some quid pro quo to take place through all of this: to trade the website domain for Endgame premiere tickets. Maybe it’s not the most virtuous way to ask for tickets to the premiere, but the Disney machine works in mysterious ways (for better or worse).
And if this person not-so-jokingly happens to follow up on their second NSFW plan for the website, you might expect Disney to bring down the hammer. And we’re talking Mjolnir-type hammers here. Let that be a word of caution for anyone who thinks they can pull a fast one on Disney and their new friend Fox.
All that aside, this month has been a very merry one for Marvel fans. Of course, Deadpool 2 is returning to theaters on Dec. 12 with Once Upon a Deadpool. It’s a second chance to catch Deadpool 2 in theaters with the added bonus of it being PG-13 (if that counts as a “bonus” to you). And of course, we’ve gotten trailers for both Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. Plus, a trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home is rumored to be out this month. And on top of that, Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse is in theaters Dec. 14.
This truly is the season of giving, and Marvel is giving us a lot this month. So let us all be thankful for that… and hope that nothing bad happens to those Avengers-related domains during this most wonderful time of year.
