Frozen

Notable cast: Kristin Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, Jonathon Groff

What it’s about: When the new Queen of Arendelle, Elsa, accidentally puts their kingdom under an icy spell, her sister Anna and her friend Kristoff have to help Elsa break the spell. The film emphasizes the importance of family as well as not hiding who you truly are.

Why you should watch it for the holidays: While many of the movies on this list are more traditional holiday stories that might come to mind when you think about Christmas or winter movies, Frozen is definitely a holiday movie in its own right. While it’s not about a winter holiday specifically, the frozen landscape and the story about family makes it perfect to watch in December.

While the soundtrack might have gotten overplayed at a certain point, it’s been long enough that you’ll enjoy hearing all of those songs like “Let It Go” and “Do You Want to Build A Snowman?” again. The visuals for this movie are also quite stunning. You’ll love seeing Elsa’s snow castle and all of the snowy landscapes. You’ll be imagining going outside to enjoy your own winter wonderland. Even if you aren’t having a white Christmas, Frozen will give you all of those chilly, wintertime feelings that you love.

You’ll also love seeing Anna and Elsa reunite again and the message of sisterly love. And, on top of all of that, the dresses that they wear in the movie will make you want to step up your own winter wardrobe. While we can’t all have a shiny, snowflake-inspired dress, we can always dream and be inspired.

If it’s been a while since you’ve enjoyed this recent Disney classic, this winter is the perfect time to rewatch and be pulled into the rich, beautiful world that is created in this film.
