In the Avengers: Endgame trailer, Tony Stark and Nebula are stuck in space with little chance of survival. However, Captain Marvel could rescue them.
She goes by many names, Carol Danvers, Vers, Car-Ell, Warbird, Ms. Marvel, and Captain Marvel. Regardless of her alias come Endgame’s premiere date, we think Carol Danvers might save Tony and Nebula.
We anticipated that Avengers: Endgame would be more upsetting that Infinity War, but the Avengers 4 trailer really solidified that. Beyond the obviously post-snap trauma, Tony and Nebula are stuck drifting in space without any hope for survival, unless someone saves them. Given the close proximity between Carol Danvers’ cinematic debut and Avengers: Endgame premiere, Captain Marvel could be the key to their survival.
We haven’t seen Captain Marvel make an appearance in the Endgame trailer. However, we do know that a spectacular hero would need to get to Tony and Nebula in time in order to save them. From Carol’s titular trailers and her absence from the MCU, we can gather that she’s been around in the universe—where, we aren’t certain.
At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Nick Fury paged Captain Marvel herself. If Tony and Nebula are lucky, she could be traveling across their paths while she’s making her way make to Earth. (If you think that’s too much of a coincidence, just remember the Guardians came in contact with the Asgardian’s distress signal in this vast universe.)
If Carol comes across the Benatar spaceship, she’d easily and quickly be able to tow Nebula and Tony to Earth. This would also make the transition between Nick Fury’s distress message and creating a new team pretty seamless.
Dr. Strange had an ominous message regarding the Avengers’ chances of winning back in Infinity War. After scouring multitudes of potential outcomes, he only saw one where the Avengers succeeded. Assuming his sudden willingness to give up the Time Stone in exchange for Tony Stark’s wellbeing shortly thereafter, we can assume that, on some level, Tony is necessary to take down Thanos and reverse the snap.
We can also hypothesize that Tony isn’t alive in just one of those scenarios, so the universe’s overall survival depends on Tony Stark and another ambiguous factor. That factor could be whoever saves the lost space duo.
Given how many lifeforms are left in the universe after the snap, that extenuating factor could also just be Tony’s survival after the snap. While there are still an array of intergalactic anomalies and interstellar creatures that could capture, save, or transport Tony and Nebula to another dimension, time, or planar place, Carol Danvers is more than equipped for a time-sensitive rescue mission.
