Fandom 250: Will Jason Momoa rank higher in 2018?

facebooktwitterreddit

With Aquaman coming out this month and his fandom ever growing, we can see Jason Momoa’s Fandom 250 ranking rise next year.

This year, Jason Momoa climbed the fandom rankings up 49 spots to 192 overall, and a solid 24th in celebrities. And considering he is about to have a major solo superhero movie hitting theaters (with a tentative sequel), we really believe he will find his way even higher on the list next year.

Guess what?! We can’t wait! (And yes we know we have to.)

From his early days on Baywatch: Hawaii, to his time on the sadly under-loved Stargate: Atlantis, Momoa’s early career was much more niche than it is today. Fast-forward a bit to his turn as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, and suddenly his star was on the fast-track and we couldn’t wait to see what was coming next. (And if you can’t tell we have been fans for a really long time now.)

Now, we have our first ever big screen, live-action Aquaman, and we can’t imagine any other actor stepping into the role. Much like Chris Evans is Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. is Iron Man, and Tom Hiddleston is Loki, when we think of Aquaman, the first thing that comes to mind is Jason Momoa (and that’s impressive for a character whose solo movie isn’t hitting theaters until later this month).

All it takes is heading to Twitter or Instagram to understand why Momoa’s fandom is climbing the ranks. Here is an actor who clearly loves what he does and loves being there for the fans who helped him become this successful. Momoa posts funny videos and thanks his fans constantly for their support. And as a family man, he has repeatedly shown his love for his wife and children.

Then there are his public appearances. At every convention he attends, Momoa has fun with the people who come to meet him. He always seems to have a smile on his face when interacting with the fans who come up to him to express their excitement over a role he has played.

And of course, who could forget all of the engaging and funny fan pictures he has taken recently in which he finds a way to get the girl, even as the boyfriend or husband looks on in dismay. Plus, don’t forget his recent Times Square takeover, in which he shouted his battle cry as he held up the Aquaman trident. Pure Momoa magic!

Honestly, with his larger than life personality, the upcoming arrival of his solo superhero movie Aquaman, and even his upcoming Saturday Night Live appearance, we can guarantee that his fandom is going to explode over the next year as more and more people learn about the gentle giant.

Of course, we are a bit surprised he isn’t already a household name, but perhaps that comes from being fans for so long.

We can’t wait to see what comes next for Jason Momoa. He has proven that he knows how to be a hero, a funny man, and a family man. And we are eager to see what he has in store for us once Aquaman splashes into theaters.
