Jason Momoa takes over Times Square to promote Aquaman

When it comes to promoting the DCEU’s latest offering, Aquaman, the studio has pulled out all the stops. And that includes Jason Momoa taking over Times Square.

With the first solo Aquaman movie less than a month away, excitement is in the air for fans of Jason Momoa and the Atlantean. And as part of promoting his new movie, Momoa decided to hit the streets of New York City with trident in hand.

On Instagram, unsuspecting people in Times Square were treated to a very special moment, as the actor lifted his trident to the sky and released his now signature battle cry (we have seen it in Justice League already). And on his Instagram, Jason Momoa shared the video and images taken by someone in the crowd with a message for his fans.

The actor said that it was an “epic night” getting to spend time with some of his fans after one of the very first Aquaman screenings. And while he may have spent time with fans after a screening of the movie, this scene in Times Square seems a bit different.

In fact, seeing Jason Momoa among the crowd of tourists and city dwellers reminds us a lot of when Henry Cavill took to the streets of New York in a very Clark Kent manner. When Cavill did it, he was proving a point that Clark is able to hide his identity with just glasses, as he himself was able to take a picture sitting near a billboard prominently featuring his Superman without anyone seemingly realizing who he was.

Of course this time around, Jason Momoa wasn’t trying to be discreet, clearly. Instead, he wanted people to see and hear him. And they definitely did if the videos and pictures on Instagram are anything to go by.

Honestly, we wish we had been there to experience the Aquaman battle cry in person. But luckily we get to see the posts on social media and appreciate the fact that Momoa is wholeheartedly invested in his character.

And while there is plenty of excitement for the Aquaman solo movie, according to CBR.com, which also reported Momoa’s actions in Times Square, the reality is that the movie is going to have some stiff competition. It opens at the same time as Mary Poppins Returns and the Bumblebee  movie, which means moviegoers are going to be split across three big movie releases.

Either way, Aquaman is one of our most-anticipated movies of the year, and we are definitely excited to see how Jason Momoa is able to make this DCEU hero a well-respected member of the comic community.
