Star Wars Resistance preview: Torra suspects Kaz is a spy

Torra suspects Kaz is hiding a big secret and straight up asks him if he’s a spy in this clip from the next all-new episode of Star Wars Resistance.

Part of being a spy is knowing how to act the part and lie under pressure. It’s necessary in order to get the task done. There are obvious risks behind a job of this nature, like putting your life on the line and blatantly lying to people in order to gain their trust.

Kaz is no spy. No one knows this better than him because when Poe gave him the job, Kaz told him right from the start “I’m not a spy.” He went in completely blind and unaware on how to handle this type of job. There’s no doubt part of the fun comes from watching him struggle with it, but there are also serious consequences to his actions, especially when his mission starts affecting his relationship with others.

Torra is an ace pilot, but she’s also a 15-year-old girl who wants to live her life and make new friends. Unlike Hype Fazon who chooses to visit Aunt Z’s tavern whenever he wants, we haven’t seen Torra walking about freely and interacting with others on the Colossus. As seen in “The High Tower,” she mostly keeps to herself and we blame that on Captain Doza’s overprotectiveness as a father.

In this upcoming episode, we’ll finally get to see Kaz and Torra hang out with each other outside of a sky racing competition, doing what friends would do. The thing is… he’s lying to her. And on top of it, he’s a bad liar and she knows it.

Watch Torra question Kaz about his real intentions in this recent clip:

Imagine being in Torra’s boots, thinking you have a friend in Kaz, and he just goes ahead and lies to your face. It hurts, and it gives you reason to believe Kaz is up to no good. We have no doubt there are going to be some serious consequences from this interaction between them.

While Torra doesn’t seem like the snitching kind, she does seem like the type to be honest with her father, especially if it concerns his safety. As we know from her introduction video, she loves her family fiercely. If Kaz is doing something that could potentially hurt Captain Doza in the long run, there’s a chance she could share her suspicions about Kaz with her father. Not only would it put his mission in jeopardy, but it’ll destroy whatever friendship exists between them.

On the other hand, Torra does have a poster of Sabine Wren’s starbird from Star Wars Rebels hanging up in her room. It’s a symbol that eventually evolved into one about rising up and rebelling against injustice. She also told Kaz how she keeps a close eye on her father’s business. Torra is a smart teenager. If she starts to realize the First Order is taking advantage of her father, she could confront Kaz, learn about his connection to the Resistance, and become a valuable resource herself in the process.

It’ll be interesting to see where her story goes from here. Will she take Kaz’s blatant lie and run to her father? Or will she take matters into her own hands and dig for more information in order to make an informed decision later? One thing’s for sure, she’s someone we should definitely keep our eyes on moving forward.
